Distinguishing marks: A small beauty mark above her lip on the right side. Very faint scars on the insides of her elbows from shooting up. Two piercings in each ear. Chinese symbol for 'passion' tattooed on her left hip bone. And, of course, fangs. PB: Skye Sweetnam Birth Location: Los Angeles, CA Personality: Katrina is, in a word, a bitch. She's arrogant, condescending, extremely pessimistic, stubborn and, for the most part, is difficult to get along with. She considers herself to be better than most of the rest of the world, supported by what she's gone through in her life. She enjoys making others mad and takes great pride in the fact that she does it easily. She is not afraid to speak her mind, even if it pisses other people off, which she likes to do, it amuses her greatly. Calculating and manipulative, she likes to have things done her way, and has her ways of making sure it works out that way. But she does have a softer side, one that most people don't see, and she wants to keep it that way - she doesn't want others to think that she's weak. Her sister is the one who has seen it most often, and is the one it is normally directed at. Coming close after is her lover, whom she has been with for more than two years now. This side of Katrina is protective of those she cares about, and has the ablity to laugh and be goofy in a way that doesn't mock another person. But this side of her is rarely seen, and few at Halcyon have ever gotten even a glimse of it. Personal Background: Katrina Renee Eriksen was born around two am in a one bedroom apartment in East L.A. on January 10th, 1982. Her mother, Vanessa, didn't go to a hospital for her birth, unwilling to pay any more money than she'd have to for this child. While she wasn't exactly happy about having Katrina, she never did anything incredibly cruel to her daughter either. Her father, Dominic, worked as a bouncer at one of the local clubs in an attempt to support his girlfriend (the two were never married) and daughter. When that failed to bring in enough money, he began to sell drugs on the side as well. By the time Katrina was six, she had been exposed to more than half a dozen illegal drugs, and by nine could tell most of them apart. When Katrina was six, her mother gave birth to another child, a girl they named Isabelle, whom she nicknamed "Issy." Katrina was given the task of watching over her younger sister while her parents were out, and thus, the girls became extremely close, since Katrina basically raised her sister almost entirely by herself. When she was fifteen, her father was busted for his drug dealing, and was killed while resisting arrest. Her mother committed suicide a few weeks later, leaving Katrina and her nine year old sister alone in the world. It was soon after her parents' death that Katrina started smoking cigarettes, a habit she hasn't been able to break (not that she's tried very hard). But even so, she got a job at a restuarant to support herself and Isabelle as best she could. Isabelle was able to go to public school, and it gave her a safe place to stay during the day, and the young girl did extremely well there. Katrina, in contrast, can barely read and never got farther than two months into her freshman year of high school, instead dropping out to be able to work and take care of her sister, and she only got that far due to pity she received from some of her teachers, who felt bad for her, after losing her parents and supporting her sister all by herself. Soon after her sixteenth birthday, Katrina was introduced to heroin by one of the girls in the restaurant where she worked. She was quickly addicted to the drug, and it began to consume her life. For two years, almost her entire world consisted of when and where she could get her next fix. Until one night, as she sat on the floor of the apartment she shared with her sister, ready to push the needle into her skin once more, that Isabelle walked in on her. The sight of her sister's face as she finally realized what Katrina had been doing for the past two years was enough to make the older girl throw the needle away, swearing to never pick one up again. Her recovery was difficult, and the withdrawl was one of the most horrible things she'd gone through in her life. It was only with Isabelle's help that she got through, and even then, it was a close thing. She nearly failed more than a dozen times, one time coming so close as to actually having a needle in her hand before remembering Isabelle's face, and throwing the needle out the window of the apartment into the alley below. It took almost eight months before she felt strong enough to go on with her life as she had before smack had taken a hold of her life. Katrina began to work at a bar called The Black Flame when she was twenty one years old. She got along fairly well with the rest of the staff, since they were similiar to her in many ways. But the one person she got along with best was Shane, the (seemingly) 27 year old owner of the bar who had inheirted it from his uncle a few months earlier. Less than four months after she started working there, she and Shane began a relationship. An extremely sexual relationship, especially considering the fact that he was her first. Unlike so many girls her age, she hadn't given up her body for a quick fix of her drug, although it was difficult at times. She had seen how it had messed up her mother's life, and didn't want that for herself. Because Katrina had never been the touchy-feely type, she didn't find it unusual that Shane's skin was always cold, and she chalked up his pale skin and the fact that she never saw him before dusk to his insomnia. She never thought he could be anything but human. It was the night of her 22th birthday, six months after she had first met him, that she discovered the truth about Shane. He was not the human he claimed to be, but a four and two hundred year old vampire born in Italy a few centuries before. It was that night that he gave her his gift, it was that night he sired her and changed her life forever. Instead of being upset, mad or confused, Katrina flourised after her turning, and she and Shane became closer than ever before. Since she was sired, Katrina has seen her sister only twice, wanting to protect her from the truth of what she now is. Isabelle has an obsession with the occult and supernatural, and might suspect Katrina's true nature. Katrina isn't sure how Isabelle might react, and doesn't want to scare her sister away, and thus, does everything in her power to deceive her sister. It's a bit difficult, since Isabelle has known her nearly her entire life and can read her more easily than anyone else, although Shane is coming close. It was Shane's idea for Katrina to go to Halcyon - the bar had drawn attention from local police, and he didn't want her to get caught in the middle if anything were to happen. At first, she resisted, but slowly opened up to the idea, and finally accepted, seeing it as a way to put more distance between herself and her sister, and make it harder for Isabelle to find anything unusual about her older sister. Isabelle was thrilled to hear that her sister was returning to school, but has no idea what Katrina is actually studying. Over the summer she returned to the Black Flame, where they were thrilled to have her back. She has now been at the school for almost two years. Family: Younger sister, Isabelle (18).
